Cris Carter is chairman of Carter Brothers, LLC (Carter Brothers). As chairman, Cris develops the organization’s corporate vision, drives strategic growth, provides access to key contacts at all levels of the business community, supports public relations initiatives and directs relationship development. Companies such as Wachovia, Tyco, General Electric, Frito Lay, Standard Register, BP Oil and Grainger, count on the award-winning expertise of Carter Brothers for their closed circuit television, access control, burglar alarm and fire and life safety needs.
As an engaged leader, Cris has positioned Carter Brothers on a course of achievement. Since its 2001 founding, the organization has experienced exceptional profit and revenue growth. The company has grown from $650,000 revenue in 2001 to expected revenue of $95 million in 2008. In 2007, Carter Brothers placed a major focus on capabilities expansion. The acquisition of fire and life safety leader Edwards Service from GE Security netted the organization an additional $35 million in annual revenue and increased its market presence in ten large metropolitan areas across the country.
Prior to entering the security industry, Cris enjoyed a stellar NFL career, most notably playing with the Minnesota Vikings. Cris’ drive for excellence and performance established him as one of the greatest wide receivers of all time. During his 16-year career, Cris appeared in eight consecutive Pro Bowls and became only one of four players in NFL history to catch 1,000 or more receptions. Cris was also applauded for his generous charitable works in the Twin Cities area by receiving the NFL’s Walter Payton Man of the Year award - the only league award that recognizes a player’s off-the-field community service as well as playing excellence.
In 2001, Cris founded Carter Brothers in Atlanta, Georgia, with his brother John Carter, a former senior executive with Barton Malow Construction. Since its beginnings, Carter Brothers has achieved notable success by bringing innovation to the industry through delivery of project management in the design, installation and maintenance of electronic security systems on a national level.
As a dedicated and active philanthropist, Cris uses his resources and time to support many causes. Cris started his charitable works in Minnesota with youth organizations, inner-city schools and children’s hospitals and has since helped to establish a host of charitable organizations in the Atlanta metropolitan area
Cris attended Ohio State University where he studied communications. He is a member of the board of Builders on Dreams for Youths and an international ambassador for the Starlight Foundation. Formerly, Cris served as a board member for the Ronald McDonald House and mentored youth through the Big Brothers, Big Sisters organization.
John Carter is president and chief executive officer for Carter Brothers. As CEO John leads one of the nation’s leading security providers specializing in closed circuit television, access control, burglar alarm and fire and life safety projects. The award-winning company serves clients throughout the country and has relationships with many of the nation’s blue chip corporations such as Wachovia, Tyco, General Electric, Frito Lay, Marriott, Hilton, Standard Register, BP Oil and Grainger to name a few.

John’s leadership has had significant impact on profitability and growth for Carter Brothers. Since its inception, annual revenue has increased from $650,000 to $80 million in 2007. In 2007 another company milestone was reached when Carter Brothers acquired fire and life safety leader Edwards Service from GE Security. The acquisition increased revenue by 50% and increased its market presence in ten large metropolitan areas across the country. Carter Brothers’ 2008 revenues are projected to reach almost $100 million.
John previously served as vice president of Barton Malow Construction from 1994 to 2001. During his time at Barton Malow Construction, John focused on strategic planning, business development, day-to-day operations, and ensuring client satisfaction. As vice president at Barton Malow Construction, John led the construction giant in the acquisition of over $5 billion in construction projects. A few of the projects included the Olympic Stadium/Turner Field, Phillips Stadium, Enron Field, and Paul Brown Stadium. Additionally, John established strategic relationships with key clients such as the Detroit Lions, Cincinnati Bengals, Pittsburgh Pirates, Chicago Bears, and the New England Patriots.
John attended West Liberty State College where he studied business management, and is a graduate of the Advanced Management Education Program at Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Business.
He is a member of the board of directors for the YMCA; a member of the board of directors of the National Minority Supplier Development Council; and past member of the Hampton University Sports Advisory and Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Business Alumni Board. Carter is active in the community and supports the Boys and Girls Clubs of America, Hosea Feed the Hungry and the National Urban League.
