March 3, 2009
Atlanta – On Tuesday, February 24, 2009, CEO of Carter Brothers, LLC (Carter Brothers) and co-founder of Carter Brothers Charities, John Carter informed a sophomore geometry class at South Atlanta High School that all of their dreams are within reach and that education will be one of their greatest keys to success.
To stress the importance of education, Carter offered the class motivational incentives for academic performance. Students that exhibit the most improvement in behavior, participation, and grades for the next four consecutive weeks will be rewarded with a monetary gift. The student that exhibits the greatest improvement at the end of the year will attend dinner with Carter. After sharing his insights on entrepreneurship, Carter divided the students into teams and presented a business plan development challenge. At the end of March 2009, Carter will return to the class and award $1000 to the team with the best business plan.
“I was truly honored to be given the opportunity to inspire and encourage the students to maximize their full potential,” said Carter. “Teach for America provides positive growth opportunities for young teachers and students across the country. I encourage more business and community leaders to support this program.”
As a distinguished and highly respected member of the Atlanta community, Carter was asked to volunteer as a guest teacher for Teach For America Week alongside such luminaries as Brenda Wood of 11 Alive News and Georgia State Superintendent of Schools, Kathy Cox.
